GRADE 1 NATIONALS
A team of 4 members from Richard’s Trampoline Club travelled down to Eastleigh, Hants for the first Grade 1 of the season. Exactly doubling the number of entries we had at this level last year, so good progress shown for the club. The Grade 1 elite circuit draws the best gymnasts from all over Britain.
Michael Dodson had the best day by far. Trying out some new much harder routines, which he struggled with in the warm ups. With some quick thinking he reduced the difficult value in his voluntary and final routines, which paid off. He received some good form marks from the judges and easily qualified for the British Championships in the summer, and finished in 6th place. An excellent start to the season for him!
This was Charlie Mussino’s first competition at Grade 1, and he made an excellent start. He performed some excellent routines, just slightly over rotated on one of his somersaults, finishing in 13th place. He’ll be looking at increasing his difficulty level next.
It was also Lisa Withey’s first time at Grade 1 in a number of years. She completed her routines, but was very nervous and unfortunately this showed in her marks, finishing in 14th place. Hopefully she’ll feel more settled at her next Grade 1 competition in a few weeks time.
Lauren Jones suffered some interruptions to her training prior to today, which showed in her routines. She struggled during her compulsory set routine, but improved in her voluntary routine. She finished down in 22nd place, but she’ll definitely improve upon this as she has a great deal of talent.
