NATIONAL GRADE 1A team
of 3 members from Richard’s Trampoline Club travelled down to
Eastleigh, Hants for the first Grade 1 of the season. The Grade 1
elite circuit draws the best gymnasts from all over Britain. Nick
Ledwold started well with a good set routine.
For his voluntary routine he was trying out a new, much harder
routine to what he’s competed before.
He successfully completed the routine, although not as neatly as
he’s capable of, and made it through to the final.
In the final, again he completed his routine and finished in a
well-earned 7th place. He’ll
be working now on improving his form marks, to try and earn a place in
the British Championships in the summer.
But a great start to the season for him. Elliot
Stratton was competing at his first Grade 1 competition for over a year,
due to training for a year over in Australia.
However a serious neck injury just days before Christmas, left
Elliot with only 3 weeks training prior to today.
He started well with his set routine.
But in the voluntary routine he had to dramatically drop his
difficulty level due to his lack of preparation.
So this affected his scores, but he did enough to finish in 10th
place. And he’ll improve
upon this next time now he’s back to full training. Michael
Dodson started with a good set routine.
He carried on with the same good form in his voluntary routine,
and things were looking good. Until
a small mistake at the end of his routine which cost him some vital
marks. This left him in 10th
place, but he knows he is capable of doing much better than that. |
